Body Ready Method® Programs: Support for Pregnancy, Birth, and Postpartum Healing

Your body is designed to adapt, stretch, soften, and open during pregnancy and birth. But the way we move in daily life — how we sit, stand, lift, breathe, and carry ourselves — can either support those physiological changes or make them feel more challenging.

Many of the families I work with are surprised to learn how much their comfort in pregnancy, their baby’s positioning, and even the flow of labor can be influenced by alignment, balance, and simple, intentional movement.

The Body Ready Method® programs were created to support this connection. These courses offer practical, evidence-informed guidance to help you understand your body’s mechanics and prepare for birth and postpartum in a way that feels grounded, accessible, and attuned to your needs.

Below, you’ll find answers to the most common questions parents ask when deciding if the

Body Ready Method® is right for them.

What is the Body Ready Method®?

The Body Ready Method® is a series of online programs focused on functional movement and body awareness during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum recovery. Rather than giving you a list of workouts, these courses teach you how your body works — and how everyday movement patterns can influence comfort, mobility, and your baby’s position in the pelvis.

It’s a gentle, highly practical approach that supports your body’s natural adaptability and prepares you for the physical aspects of birth in a clear, intuitive way.

Who created it?

These programs were developed by Lindsey McCoy, a doula, bodyworker, and movement specialist, in collaboration with pelvic floor physical therapists, midwives, and perinatal professionals. Their collective work blends anatomy, biomechanics, and birth physiology into tools that are easy to understand and use.

How does the Body Ready Method® support pregnancy?

Most people experience changes in posture, balance, and muscle tension during pregnancy. The Body Ready Method® helps you understand these changes and offers movements and strategies that can:

  • Reduce common discomforts

  • Improve mobility and alignment

  • Support balanced pelvic muscles

  • Encourage optimal fetal positioning

Rather than focusing on intensity, the emphasis is on restoring balance to the body so that you and your baby have the space, mobility, and support needed for an efficient labor.

What is the Prenatal Prep Program?

The Prenatal Prep Program guides you through pregnancy with education and movements that support comfort, alignment, and functional strength. It teaches you how to adjust small habits in daily life, such asthe way you sit, stand, walk, and breathe to reduce tension and support your body as it grows and changes.

Parents choose this program when they want to prepare thoughtfully for birth, reduce discomfort, or support their baby’s position in a gentle, non-invasive way.

How is this different from typical prenatal workouts?

Traditional prenatal exercise classes often focus on fitness.
The Body Ready Method® focuses on functional movement, pelvic balance, mobility, and the mechanics of birth. It teaches you how to move in a way that supports your baby’s descent and rotation, which are skills that become incredibly helpful during labor.

This method aligns well with physiological birth and the holistic approach I teach.

What is the Birth Prep Program?

The Birth Prep Program is designed to support you through the physical process of labor. It teaches you how to use movement and positioning to work with your baby’s journey through the pelvis.

Inside this program, you'll learn:

  • How the pelvis opens at different stages of labor

  • Movements that create space when labor feels intense or slow

  • How to support rotation and descent

  • How to use upright, instinctive positions effectively

  • Ways your partner can confidently support you

If you want to understand what your body is doing during labor and how to support that process, this program offers clear, accessible guidance.

Does it help with pushing?

Yes. One of the most supportive aspects of this course is the teaching around pelvic floor coordination, breath, and intuitive pushing. Instead of relying on force or direction, you learn how to work with your body’s natural reflexes.

Can partners be involved?

Absolutely. Partners often appreciate having concrete tools and clear demonstrations. This program helps them understand how to support you physically during labor with confidence and intention.

What is the Postpartum Recovery Program?

The Postpartum Recovery Program focuses on healing and restoring function after birth. It offers gentle, progressive guidance for reconnecting with your core, rebuilding strength, and supporting the pelvic floor.

This program is especially helpful for:

  • Diastasis recti

  • Pelvic floor tension or weakness

  • Back or hip discomfort

  • Reestablishing strength for daily life

  • Cesarean recovery

  • Anyone wanting to restore function after pregnancy

Whether you’re newly postpartum or years out, the program provides a safe, foundational pathway back to stability and strength.

Is the program supportive after a cesarean birth?

Yes. The postpartum program includes guidance specifically for cesarean recovery, including mobility, breath work, scar care, and gentle strengthening.

How much equipment is needed?

Most movements use your body weight and items you already have at home. Any additional tools are optional and not required to participate fully.

When should I start?

You can begin at any point:

  • Prenatal Prep: any trimester

  • Birth Prep: often started in the third trimester, but earlier is helpful

  • Postpartum Recovery: anytime after birth, including years later

Each program is self-paced and designed to fit into your daily routine.

How do I know which Body Ready Method® program is right for me?

Parents often choose based on the stage they’re in:

  • If you want to build comfort and support your baby’s position → Prenatal Prep

  • If you’re preparing for birth and want clear guidance for labor → Birth Prep

  • If you’re healing after birth or want to restore function → Postpartum Recovery

If you’re unsure, I’m always happy to help you choose the program that aligns best with your goals and birth preferences.
